What is psychotherapy ?
“Psychotherapyis an interactive process in which the clients are helped to overcome their emotional difficulties through psychological methods & techniques. It facilitates personal growth through an increased insight into oneself. “At Aavishkar we have adopted an eclectic approach to psychotherapy. This means, we use a variety of methods, techniques and psychotherapies to suit our individual clients.Transactional Analysis
Transactional Analysis founded by Eric Berne, is popularly known as the 'parent, adult child' theory. It focuses on sorting out behaviors, emotions and thoughts that prevent the development of full human potential.
It enables our clients to get a better understanding of themselves - their emotional needs, why they behave the way they do, how others affect them etc. It also in resolving interpersonal conflicts.
Fritz Perls’s Gestalt therapy is a form of psychotherapy that emphasizes personal responsibility and focuses on the individual's experience in the present moment.
We encourage our clients to become aware of immediate needs and meet them in a healthy manner.
REBT developed by Dr. Albert Ellis, is a cognitive & philosophical approach that specifically uncovers clients’ irrational or dysfunctional beliefs and actively and derectively disputes them.
REBT’s core philosophy is, “We are not directly affected by things but by the view we take of them.”
We draw on the concepts of psychodynamics (developed by Sigmund Freud), to understand the inner conflicts in a person that influences behavior.Play therapy
Children often express their feelings, fantasies, experiences, and knowledge through play. Play therapy is therefore an effective medium of understanding how a child views’ his/ her world and to understand the child’s emotional needs.Art Therapy
This is a form of “expressive therapy“ in which our clients are encouraged to express their themselves through the medium of paints and clay.
